A design charrette is a collaborative
session that involves all stakeholders: municipal officials, residents,
and business owners working together to create a solution to a problem.
In regard to our desired goal of creating Streets for People issues
that relate to traffic, bicyclists, pedestrians and parking will
be identified, and prioritized. The participants then jointly break
down into smaller groups who then work on developing solutions,
presenting them to the larger group. The intention of the design
charrette is to come up with solutions that all stakeholders have
ownership of.
A design charrette is generally led by a Design specialist who
can focus the group on the issues that are central to the problem.
